The Trailwing TW152 by Bridgestone are put through their paces…

These come as standard on the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT that I bought in 2015. Whilst you can read the intial and follow-up reviews here, as far as the tyres are concerned here’s the lowdown…

It took about 700 miles to feel like they’d been ‘scrubbed in’.

From then on in they have been up and down motorways at 70mph+ on their way to enjoying the less-travelled sections of the UK like Wales, the Lake District and the lower parts of Scotland.
They’ve even been on holiday. Twice. France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany and numerous other Euroland countries have been traversed at speeds of 130+ kph and they’ve even got their ‘boots’ dirty with a small amount of off-road (just see whether they could cope with the lack of tarmac, which they can… but more dusty trail rather than rock laden trail…).
V-Strom on holiday in SpainThe Euroland sections of their life have meant that they have carried an extra 80kg – for approximately 5500 miles and they’ve taken me through some extraordinary places; Stelvio, Grossglockner, N621, B500 (indeed the Black Forest generally 😉 the A82 and I’ve found that once warm, the confidence they inspire is pretty similar to what I’ve experienced on bigger and more expensive sports bikes… I found myself being able to lean over as far as the laden rear would let me and have the confidence to accelerate with full throttle out of corners much earlier than my colleagues (XJR1300 , ZZR600) – I’d gain 10 yards every exit. Fabulous!

I found the grip in the wet pretty good – admittedly most of the rainy days I’ve been fully laden and that does make the front a little vague anyway – but then the stock VStrom suspension doesn’t help… It’s fair to say then; don’t push them to ‘silly’ extremes and you’ll be fine.

And finally, at just shy of 15,000 miles, they have hit their limit. The marks are just about scraped on the front and the back is nicely squared off and past the marks.

Simply a excellent tyre for general road use on the V-Strom XT 650. Huge confidence in their abilities. Great value!
