Forma ADVENTURE boots review – built for adventurers?
I’ll not muck about… these Forma Adventure boots look great… and they feel great! Lightweight and sturdy (CE armour to ankle/calf/shin/toes/heel) yet flexible at the right areas and the full-grain oiled leather finish is exceptionally pleasing to the eye.
They slip on easily and instantly I was impressed with how easy the buckles were to do up with one hand – the methodology has been thought through – quick and simple!
Wear them for just a few minutes and you’ll feel how well they fit. I was super impressed with the seeming ‘sponginess’ of the soles – they operate like they are already worn in and I can vouch for the anti-slip nature of the soles; no longer having to be cautious on wet tiled floors…
But I was keen to get out on the bike. I suffer from Plantar fasciitis (whereby the tendons at the bottom of the foot become stressed and inflamed – any flexing of the foot produces pain ranging from uncomfortable to ‘oh-sweet-jesus’) and mainly in my left foot. I have gotten into the habit of shuffling that foot backwards (so the ball of the foot rather than the arch is on the peg) having shifted gears because I have found that the vibration can trigger an attack… but I found that with the Forma Adventure boots on I can leave my foot where it naturally wants to be –
the “EVA” midsole that Forma have selected absorb @80%+ of the peg vibration and I have been on 300 mile trips without having to move my foot from the normal pain point.
It may not seem like much to the majority of riders, but to me, this alone is a good enough reason rate these highly. Additionally, the insole slips out easily which is great news since I can replace them with my favourite Svartz footbeds; in themselves a worthy addition to any biker with a dodgy back and fear of cold toes!
The injected TPU armour mouldings are not intrusive, the gear shift pad is absolutely in the right place and the DryTex® lining results in dry feet even when under load… They’ve been used and abused over the last few months, handling all the rain and mud that the infamous British weather has thrown at them (and they clean up real easy too).
Overall, I’d highly recommend the Forma Adventures… well-built, sturdy, wear-all-day waterproof on/off-road boots with easily replaceable straps and buckles, great work by Forma!
